An invisible ring.

He wore it to remind him of what he had.

He found it somewhere. It was while he was cleaning his glasses. It is some kind of plastic, or rubber, or chemical compound. Sheer artifice.

Art I face.

It is more transparent than invisible. There is no magic involved, no spells, no cloaks, no potions.

But naked eyes have no way of noticing it, and clothed eyes worry too much about matching trousers with shirts and ties and socks and other suffocating things.

He wears it to remind him of mistakes made.

But it is all the more difficult to follow the trail of crumbs when what he had resembles so finitely the mistakes he made.
