Like ships lost and sea,
Tossing and turning,
Awaking with a start but no end,
Early enough for him to
Still taste last night's toothpaste.

Wondering where
The morning showers might be,
Who might have
Rubbed the soap into dry eyes,
As that is the only cause
For sharks' tears.

But there they were,
The spray of sea salt from
Irrepressible waves of emotion,
And the impossibility of finding land
Because the backs of these eyelids
Tend to lie.
